This space aims to generate a network of people who will exchange knowledge, experience and creative ideas to foster new and often unexpected collaborations amongst individuals living in different cultures.
I first became interested in Latin America as a teenager, when I visited the Mexican border towns whilst on family holidays to Texas and California. I was determined to learn Spanish, and spent six months volunteering in the fundraising department of an NGO in Mexico City before beginning a degree in Latin American Development at the University of Portsmouth. For the 3rd year of my degree, I returned to Mexico, where I spent a semester studying at the University of Veracruz in Xalapa and a semester volunteering at an NGO in Oaxaca, Mexico. I have travelled around Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Guatemala and Cuba. This year, I completed an MSc in Conflict, Security and Development at the University of Birmingham. I spent 4 weeks in Mexico City researching my dissertation on the impact of drug cartel violence on the Mexican state.
